Referee’s report: Can a scientific paper be too brief ? Part 1

While commendably concise and to the point, this paper omits several key references and has insufficient detail in the methods to allow the work to be reproduced.

Surely, reproducing the work is very easy here and the method (namely, implication) is sufficiently clear. I’m with you on the references.

    Maybe.

On a serious note, are we counting online supplements as part of the paper? Because thanks to online supplements, papers these days are both too short and too long simultaneously.

    On a related note:

There once was a man, Fred McGoo
Whose limericks stopped at line two.

    And here’s the obvious sequel:

There once was a poet, John Donne.

Can’t recall where I read those, unfortunately.
